Surveyor
Conduct detailed site-based assessments and prepare survey-led claims for Plant & Machinery allowances and SBA. Perfect for surveyors or consultants looking to enhance their technical expertise within a growing specialist division.
About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Capital Allowances Surveyor to join CPRA’s expanding Capital Allowances division. Our team provides high-quality, survey-led advice to clients across the UK, specialising in Plant & Machinery allowances, Structures & Buildings Allowances (SBA), and detailed site-survey assessments.
CPRA’s approach is rooted in technical accuracy, ethical practice and evidence-led reporting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial property, construction costs, tax legislation relating to capital allowances, and the practical surveying required for robust claims. You will be confident working independently, conducting site inspections, preparing claims, and reporting into our London headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed site-based surveys to identify qualifying expenditure for Plant & Machinery and SBA claims.
- Prepare comprehensive capital allowances claim reports with high levels of technical accuracy.
- Analyse construction costs, property acquisition details, and historic expenditure.
- Liaise with clients, accountants, and legal representatives to obtain required documentation.
- Provide clear valuation and apportionment evidence to support each claim.
- Maintain organised case files and ensure full auditability and compliance.
- Support senior surveyors and directors on large or complex national portfolios.
- Uphold CPRA’s ethical, independent and evidence-driven standards at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in capital allowances, quantity surveying or a related commercial property discipline.
- Strong understanding of Plant & Machinery allowances, SBA legislation, and HMRC guidance (training provided if needed).
- Ability to read and interpret construction cost plans, drawings, contracts, and property records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong numerical, analytical and reporting abilities.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own caseload.
- RICS or similar professional qualification preferred but not essential — full support available.
What We Offer
- Competitive remuneration depending on experience and contract type.
- Flexible working arrangements (full-time, part-time, or consultancy).
- Ongoing training and mentorship from experienced capital allowances and RICS-chartered surveyors.
- Support from our dedicated administration team.
- Access to high-quality national instructions across multiple sectors.
- Excellent opportunities for progression within a growing specialist division.
