James is an Associate in CPRA’s national business rates team, bringing a distinctive blend of valuation expertise, commercial awareness and in true family tradition, a surveying career that followed an early chapter in the music industry. Before joining CPRA, he served as Lead Valuer within the Valuation Office Agency’s Specialist Industrial Unit, where he handled complex valuations across factories, warehouses, and large-scale distribution centres.
He now advises some of the world’s largest occupiers across offices and industrial portfolios, providing clear, strategic business rates and lease advice rooted in technical depth and practical understanding. Covering the Midlands, Yorkshire, Wales and North West England, James is known for his meticulous approach, strong grasp of valuation frameworks and an enthusiasm for Rating case law that he openly (and proudly) describes as being a “Rating geek”.
His commitment to staying ahead of legislative and market developments ensures CPRA remains at the forefront of property taxation and means that clients and the team rarely get a piece of news before he does.
